Being more useful with my energy in my green home office

Guest post written by Danielle Grant

I’m kind of forgetful so when I leave my home office to do something in another part of the house, I forget to turn off the lights and then get distracted by something else. I end up leaving my lights on for too long and waste energy. I think that’s starting to reflect on my energy bill now too, so I knew that I needed to do something about it. I guess there is a lot of things that I could do to make my home office greener. How eco-friendly you can be in your office depends completely on where it is in your house. One way people achieve a green home office is by looking into portable garden sheds that they can transform into a home office with solar panels to save money and be eco-friendly in the long-run. One of the things I have looked at doing is replacing my old desktop with a laptop. Not only am I looking for an excuse to treat myself, the new models are so much greener today. They have energy saving mode, and will go to sleep themselves if they haven’t been used for a certain amount of time. This means they use less energy, which is good. I have been searching online and have found a great tech bargains online store, so I might treat myself when I’ve saved up a little more. For now, though, I’m looking at other alternatives.

I guess the easiest solution would be to turn off the lights when I leave the room and I’m going to start doing that. But I thought that I could even do a little better and find an energy savings plan to help with my overall energy use. I went online to find something to help with that and found some information about Green Mountain energy. I read through it and decided to order an energy plan from it. If you’re thinking about switching energy plans when you’re able to do so, look into many different plans available to you such as these reliant energy plans for example, so you can find the best as well as the cheapest one for you.

I think that will help in my steps to a productive green office. I’m also going to do some other green things in my home office, like print less stuff, to help the environment.
