Why Aren’t “Young Invincibles” Buying Into Obamacare? “The Obamacare We Deserve”

Cliff Olney The American People

Obamacare’s main test? Will young invincibles buy into Obamacare so old people’s medical costs can be paid for? Young people are pretty smart. They see through what many of us have been saying about Obamacare for some time- it didn’t go far enough.
Maybe we should ask young invincibles if they not buying into Obamacare because they see that this whole healthcare plan was designed to maintain insurance companies’ profit margins.

Obama’s new U.S. Ambassador to China, Max Baucus carved out the public option right up front during the initial negotiations on Obamacare. Baucus is a Democrat but has taken huge contributions from insurance companies.
Michael Moore had an editorial in the New York Times yesterday about why he doesn’t like Obamacare.

I agree with Michael Moore as to the reasons not to like Obamacare.

It doesn’t go far enough.

It has always been a carve out and reward for insurance companies.

When banks brought down our economy in 2008, we rewarded them with a huge bailout and continued cheap money from the Federal Reserve, but little was done to punish them for their malfeasance and lack of fiduciary responsibility.

Insurance companies cut people that became sick. None of them were prosecuted for fraud and breech of contract yet they were just awarded another 30 million customers with Obamacare. Outrageous? Yes. But that’s how Washington DC rolls.

Republicans aren’t against Obamacare because of what it unfairly gives insurance companies. Not at all. The GOP is afraid this law will lead to a single payer system. So are insurance companies.

Michael Moore is spot on when he explains what I’ve been saying all a long.
We need to move to a single payer system and reimburse doctors at an adequate rate so they will accept new Medicare patients.

Moore wrote this in a letter to me:

“Friends,

Happy New Year! Once you’ve recovered from last night’s party, I hope you can read my op-ed in today’s New York Times.

In it I admit the forbidden truth that liberals have dared not speak: that Obamacare isn’t the fix we needed. Why? Because it’s a right-wing concept dedicated to keeping the private insurance industry (and its profits) intact.

That’s not to say it’s not an improvement on the status quo. It is, as I say in the column, a godsend for many of us, like Donna Smith from ‘Sicko.’ But it doesn’t get us what we need and deserve: universal, high-quality healthcare, not just health insurance.

The good news is that whether you live in a red, blue or purple state, there are important new ways for you to fight on a local level to move us toward that goal – ways that you may not have heard anywhere before now.

So I hope you can read my piece and get involved. We can’t leave this in the hands of President Obama or Nancy Pelosi or any other politician.
Universal healthcare didn’t get on the agenda because of them, and the day it finally happens, it won’t be thanks to them either. It’ll be because of us. So let’s get to work in 2014!”
