Late ad buys don’t buy much

NRA attack ad against Michelle Nunn in Georgia Senate race 2014
Late nonsense ads are costing Republicans huge bucks.

As you watch Republicans and their billionaire allies rush late resources into states like South Dakota, Georgia, and North Carolina, keep this in mind:

The problem with buying late: NRSC spending $830k for ~1k GRPs in Charlotte this week. DSCC bought early, same 1k GRPs cost just $384k.

Got it? The GOP is spending 2-3 times as much per ad as Democrats because of their late buys. We saw this last cycle, where the Romney campaign was spending up to FIVE times as much as Democrats because of their poor and haphazard buying habits.

So when you see big numbers bandied about, as conservatives “rush” money into this state or that one, don’t get discouraged. Not only is the efficacy of television advertising at its lowest point since forever, but Republicans are spending far more than Democrats in their ad buys.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Republicans actually acted in a fiscally conservative fashion?

Looking for great Democrats to help? We’ve got a bunch of ‘em right here.

Voting by mail is convenient, easy, and defeats the best of the GOP’s voter suppression efforts. Sign up here to check eligibility and vote by mail, then get your friends, family, and coworkers to sign up as well.

Since we’re only raising money for campaigns and GOTV, they get the best ad rates, and put their money into final field program preparations. Remember, the side who wins won’t be the one sitting on the sidelines. It’s on us to snatch victory from the suddenly-freaking-out Republicans.
